Women in the Victorian Pit VillagesHer talk came about as a result of her mining ancestry as her great great Grandma was a Victorian pit woman. Curious about the part these women played in both their village and their family life, Margaret soon found that there was very little written about these women born in the early 1800s, so she turned to the available records to research their stories.
To hear more about daily life in a mining community come to the meeting which will be held downstairs, in the Central Library theatre, from 5pm to 6.45pm with visitors welcome for a charge of £1. For further information please contact the reference desk in the Central Library or telephone 424 7864
