Neville explained that, "Ever since I was lucky enough to have a meccano set and a mammod steam engine as a child, I have been fascinated by inventions and things that move! Working at Discovery Museum for nearly 20 years has given me the opportunity to work amongst some of the North East's greatest inventions, but there are many items on display of significant social history too. My talk is about 10 objects, its aim is to show just a selection of what is on display, a brief history of the museum and, I hope, a passion for our local heritage."
To cover the period of transition from the Central Library to the new building in the Market Place, the meeting will be held in the Customs House. Members will gather in the Green Room from 5pm before going up to the Dalton Suite at 5.30pm for Neville's talk. Visitors and new members are welcome to come along with a charge of £1.
