Visitors to Tyneside before 1850, by Tim Griffiths.
Well here we are at the start of another year and a new programme of talks.
On Monday, 15th January Tim Griffiths will give his talk on 'Visitors to Tyneside before 1850'. Tim has been researching the travels of visitors to the North East for some years and in 2015 published "A Place Quite Northward: Visitors to Northumberland 1600-1850".
His talk will range quite widely, but will have much to say about the often surprising interest, shown by visitors to the area, in the industries of Tyneside, particularly the coal mines, salt works, and waggonways. Hearing about 'how others saw us' provides a different perspective on our local history and we are sure Tim's talk will do just that.
The event will be held in Room A, upstairs in the Cleadon Park Library from 5.15 to 6.45pm and visitors are very welcome to join us at a charge of £1.
