Mouth of the Tyne, changes between 1895 and 1913, talk by Anthea Lang
On Monday 19th March, South Shields Local History Group are pleased to welcome Anthea Lang as their speaker. For a number of years, Anthea worked as Local History and Heritage Manager for Gateshead Council. She is an adult education tutor giving lots of talks across the region. Anthea has written 6 local history books and is currently writing for Alan Godfrey Old Ordnance Survey Maps.
Her talk is based around an new edition of the map, 'Mouth of the Tyne 1913, which was published in 2016, showing the changes to that area since the 1895 edition. It comes with various directory extracts and information about the area on the reverse. Copies of the new map will be available at the meeting, which takes place upstairs in Room A of Cleadon Park Library between 5.15 - 6.45pm. Visitors are welcome to come along for a charge of £1.
