South Shields Sailing Collier, 'Priscilla', talk by Peter ChapmanPeter's great-great grandfather, Robert Chapman, became the majority owner of the sailing collier 'Priscilla' and the talk will follow its fortunes from its home port of South Shields between 1854 and 1864. 'Priscilla' was adventurous, travelling to Constantinople during the Crimean War, and up the Baltic to Cronstadt, the port for St. Petersburg. She was a real workhorse and did not retire!
to find out more about 'Priscilla's' journeys and what happened to her, come along to Peter's talk at Cleadon Park Library, upstairs in Room A, between 5.15 - 6.45pm. As always, visitors are very welcome at a charge of £1.
