Tyneside Cinema, Newcastle - then and now, talk by Margaret Dodds
On Monday, 19th November South Shields Local History Group is hosting a talk by Margaret Dodds who is a volunteer guide at the Tyneside Cinema in Newcastle. Margaret will cover not only the history of the Cinema but also its close links with the history of newsreels. It was the first cinema in Newcastle to show newsreels and opened in 1937 solely for that purpose. She will also talk about the variety of activities that the theatre now covers since its renovation ten years ago.
To hear about this very special venue and find out more about what it has to offer please join us. We meet between 5.15 – 6.45pm upstairs in Room A, in Cleadon Park Library at the end of Prince Edward Road.
