"Travels on horseback through the North of England and Scotland in 1704" by Tim Griffiths
On Monday, 18th February, South Shields Local History Group is hosting a talk by fellow member Tim Griffiths who has recently written a book titled ‘North of England and Scotland in 1704’. It is about a young student who set out on horseback from London, a most challenging journey back then. Tim’s talk will cover some of the interesting and intriguing places and people that he met along the way during those two months. The story is based on the original manuscript that was finally published as a limited edition in 1818. Tim has combined this with extracts from other journals, written by travellers along the same route.
To share his journey, and find out more about what he encountered, please join the Group when they meet between 5.15 – 6.45pm upstairs in Room A, in Cleadon Park Library at the end of Prince Edward Road. Visitors are always welcome at a charge of £1.
