The Old Low Light and marks in the sands of time, talk by Martin Kenny
On Monday, August 19th, the members of South Shields Local History Group are looking forward to welcoming Martin Kenny from the North Shields Old Low Light Heritage Centre. The first Low Light was built in 1536 to help mariners guide their vessels into the river. Martin will cover the history of the site beginning 330million years ago through to the present day with, as he says, ‘a few giant leaps in between’.
The meeting will take place at Cleadon Park Library at the Nook, upstairs in Room A, on Monday 19th August between 5.15 and 6.45pm. It promises to be an interesting and engaging meeting and visitors are very welcome to come along, at a charge of £1.
