Discovering Anglo-Saxon Northumbria, Talk by Alan Newham
On Monday, 15th November, South Shields Local History Group members will welcome Group Chairman Alan Newham as speaker.
At one time Anglo-Saxon Northumbria stretched northwards from the Humber River to the Firth of Forth and westwards to the Solway Firth, and its rich history is still being studied and exploration continues through archaeological excavation. This illustrated talk will discuss three recent and important excavations. Further illustrations will explore some Anglo-Saxon churches in Northumberland and along the A69 road.
The meeting will take place at Cleadon Park Library at the Nook, upstairs in Room A, on Monday 15th November, between 5.15 and 6.45 pm.
PLEASE NOTE: Safety procedures including masks, hand sanitiser and social distancing will be in place.
